Deleting your Miav account

You can leave Miav at any time, and you get to choose whether it is temporary or permanent. You never need to ask us — both options are in the app.

Option 1: Deactivate (reversible)

Deactivating hides your profile, posts and stories from everyone else. Nothing is deleted. You can bring it all back by signing in again and reactivating.

Open Miav and go to Settings.
Choose Deactivate account.
Confirm.

Option 2: Delete permanently

Deleting removes your account and your content for good. This cannot be undone — there is no grace period and we cannot restore it for you afterwards.

Open Miav and go to Settings.
Choose Delete account.
Type DELETE to confirm. This step exists so it cannot happen by accident.

What gets deleted

Your profile — username, display name, biography and avatar.
Your posts, stories, comments and uploaded media.
Your chat messages.
Your follows, followers and blocks.
Your notification and push settings, and your device push tokens.

What we have to keep, and why

Two things survive deletion. We are telling you plainly rather than burying it:

Financial ledger entries — records of coin purchases and gifts. These are accounting records; we are required to retain them, and they are what protects both you and us in a payment dispute.
Safety records — if your account was banned or suspended for a serious violation, we keep a record of that enforcement action. Without it, a banned account could be erased and immediately recreated.

Both are held separately from your public profile. Everything else goes.

Note also that content is not always only yours: a message you sent still exists in the other person's conversation, and anything another user saved or re-shared before you left is outside our reach.

Your coins

Deleting your account forfeits any unused coin balance. Coins have no cash value and are not refundable — see our Terms. Spend them before you go if you want them to count for something.

If you cannot get into your account

If you have lost access and cannot sign in to delete the account yourself, email [CONTACT EMAIL] from the address the account was registered with. We will verify that it is yours before we delete anything.
